Program Infomation
The 4-week English taught program aims to cater for international students from all different backgrounds with its focus on Chinese business environment, management and related business laws alongside with Chinese culture and spoken Chinese.The program is held during every summer and winter vacation.
1. The Business Environment in China
This course introduces political,social,economic cultural and historical factors which influence the manner in which business is conducted within China. The impact of Maoist, Dengist and contemporary politicians’ policies are discussed. Greatest emphasis is placed on the contemporary developments and changes in China’s business practices.
2. The Legal Dimensions of Chinese Business World
This course introduces the legal context for doing business in China. The course deals with relevant legal institutions and substantive laws, with an emphasis on business law, which relates to constitutional law and government structure, civil and economic law, intellectual property law, financial and commercial markets,contract law and taxation, etc.
3. The Business Management in China
This is an executive-level management course illustrated by examples specific to China. Topics include comparative management, strategic choice and others that may affect Chinese business behaviors and practices with a purpose to provide international students with a framework for understanding Chinese business world.
4. The Chinese Culture
This course includes five sections: Chinese Geography and Population, Chinese History, Chinese Traditional Philosophy, Chinese Education, and Chinese Customs. It is designed to provide some background knowledge for understanding the contemporary social and economic development of China.
(1) Communicative Chinese
Survival spoken Chinese is the main content and the class starts with Chinese phonetics, tones, basic words, grammar and sentence structure. Students will be able to talk about everyday activities. The topic includes self-introduction, greetings, shopping, directions, hobbies, etc.
(2) A Taste of Chinese Culture
Diversified cultural activities are organized during the program, such as visit to the Forbidden City, Tian’anmen Square, National Center for the Performing Arts and Qianmen; visit to the Great wall; visit to the Summer Palace; visit to the Temple of Heaven, etc. Apart from that, students will have opportunity to watch two Chinese cultural performances such as Peking Opera and acrobatics. In addition, Students will have chances to experience Chinese calligraphy and the famous Chinese Taiji.
